“Pet healthcare reimagined” is what customers will discover when visiting the first location of Rise Pet Health at Honali Plaza in Laguna Hills.
The new 27,320-square-foot veterinary hospital positioned off Alicia Parkway and the 5 Freeway opened its doors in August.
Honali Plaza is an 80,643 square foot shopping center first developed in the late 1970s. It has undergone a complete remodel with a strategic focus on attracting an upgraded tenant mix of services for the surrounding communities of Mission Viejo and Laguna Hills.
“Rise Pet Health took the ‘anchor space’ of the shopping center formerly occupied by Performance Bikes,” shared Chris Premac, Senior Associate at Coreland Companies. “They liked the space given the pending remodel of the center, as well as its convenient freeway-adjacent location, providing easy access to all of South Orange County.”
Represented by John Romm of Western Retail Advisors, Rise Pet Health executed a 10-year deal with options. Premac and Matt Hammond represented the landlord.
The veterinary care industry has grown at a rapid pace post pandemic, becoming a viable service component of various neighborhood shopping centers. Its significant growth has been driven by increasing pet ownership rates and a heightened focus on animal health and wellness.

“A 27,000-square-foot pet hospital is not a typical anchor,” shared Premac. “However, the landlord appreciated Rise Pet Health’s strategic business plan that filled a definite void in the marketplace. It is the first 24-hour pet hospital of its scale in South Orange.

The property ownership team appreciated that Rise Pet Health was ready to deliver on their commitment to being a high-end establishment, matching their vision for the Honali Plaza’s many upgrades.”
