Partner and Senior Vice President Matthew Hammond has led Coreland Companies’ retail team in the leasing of neighborhood shopping centers and power centers throughout Southern California for more than 20 years. He oversees Coreland’s brokerage division which serves as owner’s representatives for more than 60 properties, in addition to representing more than 20 tenants.
Recognized as one the region’s top retail brokers, Mr. Hammond has completed over 1,500 transactions in excess of 3.0 million square feet. His strong background in lease negotiations and marketing strategies, combined with his extensive market knowledge and successful track record, make him a tremendous asset to Coreland’s regional and institutional owners.
Mr. Hammond first joined Coreland Companies in the summer of 1996 as an intern in the Leasing and Sales division and returned as a Leasing and Sales Associate in January 1998. Throughout his career, Mr. Hammond has led the team in retail lease transactions and total lease consideration. He has been honored with CoStar Group’s “Power Broker” Award as a Top Retail Leasing Broker in Orange County 15 of the last 16 years (2006–2010, 2012-2021), and he and his team were recognized among Real Estate Forum’s Top 25 National Leasing Teams in 2017.
Mr. Hammond graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with emphasis in Marketing. He holds a California Department of Real Estate Salesperson license and is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and Retail Brokers Network (RBN). He is a frequent panelist for industry organizations such as ICSC, the Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives (ACRE) and the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM).
